Somerville, MA – Essex Builders Corp. has completed a 24-unit residential development just outside Union Square, Somerville.
The Mason Apartments, located at 14 Ward Street, is across from Twin City Plaza and in close proximity to MIT, Union Square and Inman Square. Right around the corner, the new Union Square Station is set to open in Spring of 2022 as part of the MBTA’s Green Line Extension Project, which will provide tenants of The Mason Apartments easy access to public transportation into Boston. "Essex built a very high-quality building during challenging circumstances over the past 18 months” said Jonathan Block, developer of The Mason Apartments. “We were able to lease up quickly during the fall of 2021 and the tenants are thrilled with the finished product."
Designed by Peter Quinn Architects, the 4-story, 37,000 SF building is a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom units ranging from 739 SF to 1,256 SF, including four (4) income-restricted apartments. Each spacious, pet-friendly unit features quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, in-unit laundry and private balconies. The property features an underground, heated parking garage equipped with 24 spaces.
Oversized picture windows provide an abundance of natural light to the apartments. The building shape and exterior facade provides a modern, industrial look with white and blue metal panel siding, highlighted by natural cedar bump out bays and balconies.
The Mason Apartments is the second Somerville development project on which Essex and Block Properties LLC have partnered.
